I’m thrilled to be attending the AAHPM and HPNA Annual Assembly this year for the first time. I am constantly learning from hospice and palliative care professionals, and I am humbled by their dedication to delivering high-quality care every day.
I founded Carely after being inspired by my family’s personal experience caring for my great grandmother. We have a large family, and most of us played some role in her care for almost 10 years. During that time, I was introduced to every aspect of the care continuum and got to experience so many of the highs and lows that come with it.
While my family was very close during this time, we were not immune to the stresses that caregiving can bring. We often worried about her isolation and our inability to communicate effectively with one another. Unfortunately, these pressures only intensified as my great grandmother was placed in hospice care.
While our family struggled to find balance, I also was blown away by the incredible care that so many of her hospice nurses, social workers, and team members delivered on a daily basis to people at the end-of-life. Their demonstration of compassion for my family and my great grandmother inspired me to try to find ways to support their work. This personal experience shaped my vision to solve some of the communication challenges my family faced during this time.
"I am learning new things every day and recognize that every conversation, every meeting, every conference, is an opportunity for me to build more insights into Carely, in an effort to better serve patient and family communication."
This has evolved into what some might call an obsession with supporting an industry that does so much for families during such challenging times in their lives. I started Carely to bring innovation into senior care and to enhance the high touch work that so many do on a daily basis. While my background isn’t in hospice and palliative medicine, I am learning new things every day and recognize that every conversation, every meeting, every conference, is an opportunity for me to build more insights into Carely, in an effort to better serve patient and family communication. I couldn’t be more enthusiastic about attending the Annual Assembly and am genuinely excited to meet people all week that have a shared passion for hospice and palliative care.
Please reach out to me if you’re at the conference and interested in saying hello!
